Diagnosis of Sinusitis
Sinusitis can be diagnosed by observing the above symptoms and conducting a nasal endoscopy to look inside the nose. Imaging techniques like x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans can also help pinpoint the condition and whether a structural abnormality is contributing to it. They are quite helpful in the event that surgery is required.
Treatment of Sinusitis
Most sinusitis is caused by the cold or flu virus, but if symptoms last more than 10 days then bacteria may be the culprit and antibiotics are prescribed to deal with it. Nasal rinses can help with symptoms while undergoing treatment. Sinusitis nebulization will also help with clearing the nasal passages. Be sure to drink plenty of liquids as they will thin mucis and allow you to expel it easier.
Cure for Sinusitis
If the sinusitis is the result of a structural abnormality, then surgery can correct it. Your body usually cures viral sinusitis all by itself. If the condition is related to allergies, staying away from the contaminants that cause it, as well as keeping your surroundings clean, will help prevent it from coming back. Flushing your nostrils with saline solution can help free up harmful debris.
